Kimbo Slice Reportedly Hospitalized in Florida, in Serious Condition

 

MMA fighter Kimbo Slice was reportedly hospitalized Monday in Florida. Sources have told TMZ the 42-year-old’s "situation does not look good." Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting has also confirmed the report regarding Slice.

Born as Kevin Ferguson, Slice rose to fame in 2003 through his appearances in street fighting videos. He eventually found himself in mixed martial arts with a 5-2 career record. His last fight against Dada 5000 was mired in controversy when Dhafir Harris nearly died, claiming he suffered two heart attacks and kidney failure in the Octagon. Harris was hospitalized for nearly three weeks. 

Bellator ruled the fight as a no contest after Kimbo tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone, as well as an elevated T:E ratio. Ferguson would eventually reach a settlement the Texas Athletic Commission that resulted in revoking his license in Texas, and a $2,500 fine. 

There have also been unconfirmed rumors of his death.

Is it unsigned hype or an ultimate marketing ploy? Either way, rising Bronx sensation A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is the next thing smoking out of the Big Apple. Coming through like a summer's breeze, the youngster with the melodic flow and bemusing name has the streets ablaze with a string of tunes that blur the lines between Trap&B and rap.

Unlike hotshot predecessors like Bobby Shmurda and Desiigner, who quickly grew from bubbling to buzzing thanks to viral Vines and label deals, this Highbridge, BX native has built a wave through grassroots marketing that is neither attached to a sixty-second clip, dance move, nor big-time label deal. In fact, as of this writing, there aren't any standout interviews to even speak on. However, what is out there is the music which, despite being developed within a short timeframe (one year to be exact), has already awarded A Boogie the kind of following that has everyone talking and listening.

On the airwaves, you'll hear Hot 97's own Funkmaster Flex blasting off his evening line-up with A Boogie's live-from-the-kitchen talk records like "Bando" and maintstream-flavored tunes like "My Sh*t." Walk down any street of the five boroughs and a song like "Bag On Me" is likely to rumble out of cars passing by. Take note of a moment like last month, for example, when the young bull headlined (and sold out) his own show at NYC’s B.B. Kings (see above). After that, check Instagram and see stars like Meek Mill quoting the rapper.

So what is it about this kid that has generated so much attention?

Listening to his music, the obvious is demonstrated through his penchant for creating infectious melodies and easily digestible bars. He isn't a wordsmith, nor is he one of those trendy, trap-happy rappers either. In his signature unforced, sing-rapping flow he exudes the kind of dexterous formula that wins on radio and the speakers of Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz and Benz (word to Lost Boyz). Just as comfortable rapping as he is singing, A Boogie flashes a rare versatility and style that is freeflowing and allows for him to dance over the lines of R&B ("Half On A Baby," "Still Think About You") and street rap ("Jungle," "Not A Regular Person").

With just two mixtapes to his name, both released this year, A Boogie has already amassed over 8.6 million total views on his personal YouTube page, which only hosts about three official music videos. On SoundCloud, the numbers are ridiculous, totaling up to 23.3 million plays. Back in February, the rapper released his latest mixtape Artist, which is approaching nearly a million playbacks on Datpiff, and last month he dropped Highbridge the Label: The Takeover, Vol. 1. Still, even with all the numbers, A Boogie has little press coverage to his name. Maybe it's a marketing tool to boost his mystique or maybe he's just the epitome of that famous line from The Notorious B.I.G.: "Stay low and keep firing." Either way, A Boogie is his name and sooner or later the rap world will be hip to his game.

Osceola, AR – Nicole Winberry, a 28-year-old math teacher at Osceola High School, was jailed Thursday after she allegedly had s3x with three students.

According to Arkansas State Police, an investigation was launched after the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline received a tip alleging that Winberry had engaged in s3xual activities with at least one student.

Since then, three male students, two 17-year-olds and one 18-year-old, have come forward to say they were s3xually assaulted by Winberry. Investigators say Winberry was charged with four counts of s3xual assault because she allegedly assaulted one of the students on two occasions. The students all claim one time in class she gave them all repeated BlW Jobs & let them take turns hitting it in different positions.

Before placing a call to the Child Abuse Hotline, school officials reportedly investigated the allegations and found evidence they say backed up the students’ claims. One major source of information the school used to report the alleged abuse came from chat messages found on at least one student’s phone.

Winberry, who has been married for 10 years and has 5-year-old twin boys, resigned from her position on Friday.

She was booked into jail and charged with four counts of first-degree s3xual assault. Her bond has been set at $15,000. Her arraignment hearing has been set for next month.

On the same day McPhatter was laid to rest Troy Ave spoke out for the first time on the situation, revealing that his best friend's death hurt him worse than getting shot. 

The incarcerated Brooklyn rapper, who was caught on surveillance footage firing shots the night McPhatter was killed in Irving Plaza, added that he can't properly mourn and shed tears for his friend because it would look "weak." Troy then revealed that he wanted to send McPhatter in a horse drawn carriage to his funeral and place him in a mausoleum. 

Newburgh woman charged with giving girl drugs, money for sex

 

CITY OF NEWBURGH – A City of Newburgh woman facing a felony drug indictment was arrested May 27 and charged with giving a 15-year-old girl money in exchange for sex acts, police said on Monday. 

Dawn Auche, 24, was taken into custody after a nearly six-month investigation conducted by Newburgh Detective Erik Eltz and the Orange County district attorney’s office after they were contacted by the girl’s mother, police said. 

Auche was charged with sex trafficking, compelling prostitution and second-degree promoting prostitution, all felonies. She also faces an unrelated indictment in Orange County Court for third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, also a felony. 

Auche is currently in Orange County Jail on $10,000 cash bail and $20,000 bond for the narcotics charge. She is due to appear June 20 in county court on the drug charge and July 15 in Newburgh City Court on the trafficking and prostitution charges.

 

BLACK NEWS Christopher Plaskon, Conn. teen who fatally stabbed classmate for rejecting his prom invitation, gets 25 years in prison

 

A Connecticut teen who stabbed a classmate to death because she rejected his junior prom invitation was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Christopher Plaskon, 19, was sentenced Monday in Milford Superior Court.

Plaskon’s attorney, Edward Gavin, speaking to reporters following the sentencing, called the situation “a senseless tragedy that was driven here by Christopher’s psychosis.”

Plaskon initially pleaded not guilty to attacking 16-year-old Maren Sanchez — but later changed his plea to no contest.

The attack occurred on April 25, 2014 in the hallway of Jonathan Law High School. Plaskon cut his victim’s throat and body until school staffers intervened.

Sanchez, a National Honor Society member, was involved in drama and other school activities. She planned on attending the dance with her new boyfriend.

Under a juvenile justice law passed last year, Plaskon could be parole-eligible after serving 60% of his sentence, or 15 years. He’s credited with serving two years of his sentence so far.

The victim’s father, Jose Sanchez, discussed his daughter’s tragic death outside court Monday, calling Plaskon’s sentence “much too lenient.”

“He’s likely to get out in his 30s. I never get my daughter back. My daughter will always be dead,” he said.
